Jubilee, uncorrelated ...

We had our regional Jubilee.  It was obviously not a product of correlation. Parts were good.  Parts were hideous.  Parts were funny (such as the "ohh, look at that cute lesbian couple" remark one person in the audience managed to say at a moment their voice would carry).  They had clips of lots and lots of the kids saying things.  No universal format.  No apparent style guide.  Kind of fresh, but the ones of girls talking about marriage made it clear that while a mission was nice, what really counted was a guy had to be tall.  Which led someone to remark that I sure got lucky since I had by far the best wife in the group.

Obviously, I remarked, she wasn't corrupted by going to dance festival ...

Though if they only knew, I got more than lucky.  My wife is better than I knew could be possible.  I remain grateful for the path that led me to her and for her marrying me.

Also ran across a blog post I really liked:

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Absolute silence for a moment, then I asked, “Does that change your understanding

I'm grateful to God for many things. It is good to remember them.

Thanks for verbalizing (ok, writing!) much of what I observed of Jubilee...Jake was a participant, and from the production side, I felt much like you...not cohesive, and it was not clear to me what the purpose/message was supposed to be...however I will say that from the participants was an amazing experience...I had the privilege of spending the time in the tunnels with the youth and found that for them the experience was very different than when I watched the 10 am production...I found myself reflecting a bit on perspective...

I thought it was great, all in all, I have to say. Rachel and her non-member friend had the time of their lives watching it.

Though I really enjoyed dance festival and road shows as a kid too.
