Sad Songs

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

(instrumental)

Beyond the door
There's peace I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more...
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

Since someone brought the topic up.

I pulled out my guitar this week and saw these lyrics that I had written down without a title. It took me a little while to place the song and artist.

Diamond Rio
"I Believe"

Every now and then soft as breath upon my skin
I feel you come back again
And it's like you haven't been gone a moment from my side
Like the tears were never cried
Like the hands of time are holding you and me
And with all my heart I'm sure we're closer than we ever were
I don't have to hear or see, I've got all the proof I need
There are more than angels watching over me
I believe, I believe

Chorus
That when you die your life goes on
It doesn't end here when you're gone
Every soul is filled with light
It never ends and if I'm right
Our love can even reach across eternity
I believe, I believe

Forever, you're a part of me
Forever, in the heart of me
And I'll hold you even longer if I can
The people who don't see the most
Say that I believe in ghosts
And if that makes me crazy, then I am
'Cause I believe

There are more than angels watching over me
I believe, I believe

Songs like that make me very appreciative of the artistic talents of others. We need the poets to express our sorrow, and perhaps, our hope.

What "somebody brought it up" were you referring to?

A man is placed upon the steps, and a baby cries
High above you can hear the church bells start to ring
And as the heaviness of the body, oh the heaviness settles in
Somewhere you can hear a mother sing

Then it's one foot, then the other, as you step out onto the road
How much weight? How much weight?
Then it's how long? And how far?
And how many times before it's too late?

Calling all angels, calling all angels
Walk me through this one
Don't leave me alone
Calling all angels, calling all angels
We're trying, we're hoping
But we're not sure how...

And every day you gaze upon the sunset
With such love and intensity
It's almost...it's almost as if
If you could only crack the code
Then you'd finally understand what this all means

But if you could...do you think you would
Trade in all the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you'd miss
The beauty of the light upon this earth
And the sweetness of believing

Calling all angels, calling all angels
Walk me through this one
Don't leave me alone
Callin' all angels, callin' all angels
We're trying, we're hoping
But we're not sure
We're trying, we're hoping
We're hurting, we're loving
We're crying, we're calling
'Cause we're not sure how this goes

"Maybe"

The sky now divides
To bring you back into the fold
Welcome home
Still my need to recognize
Any comfort you may show
Only grows
Guess I'll learn to accommodate
While my heart just sits and waits
Maybe God you found
Maybe is all that you can offer now

Where am I to take refuge
When the storms of pain release
Shelter me
This blessedness of life
Sometimes brings me to my knees
I call on thee
I have not the words to write
A Farewell to you tonight
Maybe God you found
Maybe is all that you can offer now

I know hearts are weeping
While your voice is now singing
On high, angel on high

(Collective Soul)

I'm grateful for music, of all kinds.

"somebody" is somebody in a game forum, completely away from any topic I usually discuss here.

I don't even remember their name, but it got me thinking.

that song, and James Taylor's fire and rain, have gotten me thru some hard times. :) Thanks for posting it.
