My dad died

Much sooner than anyone expected, about 7:30 p.m. last night.

I loved him and love him still.

Not sure what I can say here, but I'm thinking about you. As hard as these separations are, I'm glad your dad is free from his disease and that he didn't have to linger on the brink too long.

I'm saddened to hear that, Stephen. I echo Marta's joyous thought.

Part of me is glad it didn't drag on; the other part of me mourns with you. The part that mourns with you is the largest part.

May God bless and cradle you and yours.

My grandpa died when I was about 8, not long after he baptized me. He had Parkinson's as well.

May you and your family have happiness and the root of happiness. May you be free from suffering.

Stephen, your grief must be overwhelming, given all that you have experienced with the loss of your daughters and now your father.

You said that God does not give you more than you can bear, but you feel he has. (And I would too!) Remember and cherish the last part of that quotation:

God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. ( 1 Cor. 10:13)

God provides you a way out from the greatest temptation, which is to doubt his love and care for you. Your daughters and father were taken from you--but that only reflects our temporary situation. Remember that the death and resurrection of Jesus means that God has redeemed our lives from sin and every evil--and death is the greatest evil that will be undone.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. By his goodness he saves you. He gives you faith to stand and renew your life. God understands our situation and hears our prayer, even if it is:
"Lord, I believe...help my unbelief!"

Blessings in Jesus' name...
Ezra
