Remembering Jessica

Jessica (February 12, 1986 to January 26, 1993)

When my daughter Jessica was little she used to need to be told stories to help her go to sleep. Later, even when she did not need the stories, she liked to listen to her two favorite stories. I will share them with you now.

Once upon a time there was a house with four windows and four doors. The first window looked out on the mountains. The second window looked out on the forest and the trees. The third window looked out on the sea and on the beach and the fourth window looked out on the highway that went South into the city. This is the story of the house with four windows and four doors.

There was a man who went on a mission. When he was twenty, he met two people who had a beautiful three year old girl. He decided that he had to get married and have a girl of his very own. After years and years he finally was married. A year and a month after the wedding he had a daughter and named her Jessica. After three years she was the most beautiful three year old in the world. This is the story of your Daddy and the daughter he always wanted.

I confess, I miss her still.

From our experiences as parents and children and the love that we feel during our lives and with loss, we can use this to remind us how very much our Heavenly Father loves us. I really learn a lot about love of children and family from reading your experiences and others' experiences. I think it is good to remember those you love and to miss them especially on anniversary dates.--Barb

I hope you always miss her.

I've never lost a child --it's my darkest nightmare. But reading your words shows me that faith and love can transcend even the darkest nightmares. I guess I should have left this comment on your other post (the one about why you have this blog), but anyway...just know that I lurk here and know you have brought comfort to many people. If I was ever to be in the same situation, I would hope for someone like you; someone who would understand.

I'm just surfing for my name when I past by the site. We have same name, I'm a mother of 4, and I never lost a child, but I don't know why when I read her story tears from my eyes fell. I know she is with our dear Lord.

Hi Stephen! This is Angela Knight (aka Hyde, from the Wichita Falls days) I found you through Mormon blogs. My family has often wondered how you guys are doing. I had the opportunity to babysit for you and Win when Courtney was a small infant. I don't remember much about that day other than the love your girls had for each other. I can't believe Heather is in college! Say hello to Win from us. Take care!
